PACK TECH A/S SINCE 1946
Ocean Waste Plastic (OWP) is a brand owned by Pack Tech A/S – a Danish packaging supplier that has existed since 1946 with headquarters in Herlev, Denmark. Pack Tech designs and supply packaging worldwide to local and multinational brands within the personal care industry.
THE CORE OF OWP
Develop packaging that encourages brands worldwide to help remove plastic waste from our oceans and rivers and enable consumers to take responsible choices.
OCEAN WASTE PLASTIC
OWP was created by Pack Tech in 2019 to fight the huge problem with plastic waste in our water ways. To protect what we appreciate, love and use on a daily basis, the concept of Ocean Waste Plastic was created. The basic idea with the concept was to allow beauty brands to be part of a journey and solution to collect plastic waste from oceans and rivers.
The more brands that participate, the better a business – and the more plastic waste is collected. A win-win for Pack Tech, brands worldwide and our planet.
By scaling this idea, the hope is to make OWP one of the leading concepts among many other great initiatives that help to protect and remove plastic from our oceans and rivers. At the same time the concept will help brands that are part of OWP to increase their value.
THE CORE OF OWP
The core of OWP can be explained by the three R’s. Replace, Reduce & Redesign. Join our mission to remove plastic waste from the world’s oceans and rivers. Every piece of packaging counts.
01. Replace. We need to reduce the amount of virgin plastic we add to our planet by replacing it with better alternatives. OWP is PCR materials and even the plastic collected can be used in the packaging (the OWP+ concept)
02. Redesign. We focus extensive research on how to upcycle and recycle plastic in the best ways and how to change the mindset of our industry. We must design things that allow them to be re-used and we have to design them allowing them to be made in recycled plastic.
03. Reduce. We need to reduce the use of virgin materials and we need to start to recycle more. With the OWP concept we both reduce the use of virgin materials and recycle as much plastic as possible.
