OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Why OWP is important
The fundamental principle of Ocean Waste Plastic is removal of plastic waste from oceans and rivers 1:1. But the concept has other great benefits.

Through our partner ReSea Project we remove plastic waste from oceans and rivers, which makes a significance difference. With your help, we can make an even bigger difference.
8-10 million tons of plastic waste enter the oceans every year, of which 80% of the plastic enter via rivers and coastlines. It is estimated that 81% of ocean plastic come from Asian rivers.
OWP ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

If we don’t act now, the plastic will increasingly impact our ecosystem, health and economies. Even though this is a high number, we are on the right track. Our goal is to collect 25,000 tons of plastic from the ocean by 2030.

Protect our eco-system
The concept of OWP and recycling in general are helping to protect our ecosystem as it reduces the need to harvest from the planet’s natural resources.
Saves energy

Recycled plastic requires a lot less energy under production than virgin plastic, which can result in less CO2 emissions. A study shows that using a ton of PET plastic containers made of recycled plastic saves around 5.774 kilowatt-hours.

Consumers
seek sustainable solutions
Research shows that consumers seek sustainable packaging solutions, but that majority feel that brands make it harder for them to choose sustainable goods.

RESEA PROJECT
Through our OWP concept a nd not at least our partner ReSea Project more than 1.200.000 kg of plastic was collected from oceans and rivers in 2021 (all certified by DNV).
